Yes. Custom design is a major part of what we do.
Some clients come to us with architectural drawings or fully developed plans. Others bring an inspiration photograph, sketch or simply an idea.
We can work from existing plans or help develop a concept into a practical design that can be fabricated and installed.
Absolutely. We regularly work with architects, interior designers, engineers, builders and general contractors.
We can collaborate with other professionals involved in the project to help ensure the metalwork integrates properly with the surrounding architecture and construction.
Yes. Inspiration photographs are a great way to communicate the style, proportions, materials or details you like.
Rather than simply duplicating another person's work, we can use those references as a starting point to develop a custom design appropriate for your project.
We work with a wide variety of metals, including mild steel, stainless steel, copper, brass and bronze.
We also incorporate materials such as wood, glass, resin and specialty lighting when appropriate.
Combining different materials allows us to create truly unique architectural features, furnishings and artistic pieces.
Finish options depend on the project and material but may include painted finishes, powder coating, polished or brushed metal, natural metal finishes and custom patinas.
Our experience with metal finishing and coatings allows us to create finishes that complement the design rather than treating the finish as an afterthought.
Yes. We provide custom metal fabrication and precision welding for residential, commercial, architectural and specialty projects.
Our capabilities extend beyond conventional fabrication and allow us to combine precision manufacturing with traditional metalworking, blacksmithing and artistic techniques.
Yes. Waterjet cutting is one of the capabilities we use to produce precise shapes, patterns, components and artistic details for custom fabrication projects.
It allows complex designs to be accurately created from a variety of materials while giving us considerable design flexibility.
Yes. One-of-a-kind art and furnishings are an important part of Black Magic Metal Art.
We create custom tables, countertops, bar tops, wine racks, sculptures, wall art, architectural features, mixed-material furnishings and completely original commissioned pieces.
Some of our favorite projects begin with an idea that has never been built before.
Absolutely.
Our business was built around custom work. We aren't limited to predetermined designs or catalog products.
If you can describe it, sketch it or show us what inspired the idea, we can discuss how it might be designed and fabricated.
Yes. Installation is available for many of the projects we fabricate.
Proper installation is particularly important with architectural metalwork such as gates, railings and larger custom features. We approach installation with the same attention to detail as the fabrication itself.
We can evaluate repairs, modifications and upgrades to existing metalwork depending on the scope of the project.
Because our primary focus is custom fabrication and architectural metalwork, contact us with photographs and a description of the existing piece so we can determine whether the project is a good fit.
Because every project is different, there isn't a single price for custom metalwork.
Cost depends on factors such as the size and complexity of the design, materials, fabrication time, finish, engineering requirements and installation conditions.
Once we understand the scope of your project, we can discuss the appropriate next steps and provide pricing based on the actual work involved.
Project timelines vary depending on design complexity, material availability, finishing, engineering requirements and our current production schedule.
A straightforward fabrication project may move relatively quickly, while an elaborate architectural or artistic project can require considerably more design and fabrication time.
We can discuss expected scheduling once we understand the scope of your project.
Contact us with information about your project and we'll determine the best next step.
Providing photographs, measurements, drawings, architectural plans or inspiration images when available can help us understand the project and give you a more productive initial conversation.

What Our Clients Are Saying...
Nate, Black Magic's owner, is a true professional, responsive, punctual, and courteous. His suggestions for the design of three stair railings at our house reflected his creativity and years of experience. He captured our needs and our taste. His crew did meticulous work and left everything spotless at the completion of the installation. We highly recommend Nate and Black Magic.

I had a very positive experience with Black Magic Metal Art. I contacted them to design and fabricate an artistic metal gate. The location for the gate had an extremely challenging hinging location; two stucco'd block-wall pillars would be the location where the gate would hang and swing. However, the way the stucco pillars sit on the concrete is not conducive to hanging a swinging gate. Nate and his team figured it all out, though. Between the extensive measurements taken, calculations done, and the design discussions, they produced a beautiful gate for me that also functions very well. I'm very happy, and would highly recommend them to anyone wanting a custom metal gate designed and made.
